Ishpeming – The Diabetes PATH (Personal Action Towards Health) workshop, a six week class, will meet on Mondays, beginning on September 11 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at Bell Hospital in Ishpeming.

The workshop helps people living with daily challenges of diabetes, learn skills and tools needed to improve their health and manage their symptoms. Subjects covered include: symptoms of diabetes, stress, managing fatigue and emotional problems, exercise, healthy eating, medications, and working with health care providers.

Calendar – Education – NCLL Tour of the Keweenaw Peninsula – Registration Deadline – Sept. 11

Copper Country) – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will host a tour of the Keweenaw Peninsula on Tuesday, October 10 departing at 7:30 a.m. from the east side parking lot of the Berry Events Center in Marquette and at 8 a.m. from the parking lot of Jim’s Jubilee Foods on U.S. 41 in Ishpeming.

Tour attractions include the Keweenaw National Park Visitor Center, Brockway Mountain Drive, Jampot Bakery, George Gipp Memorial, Italian Hall Memorial and the record snowfall marker. There will be shopping and sightseeing opportunities in Copper Harbor and Calumet, as well as the chance to purchase a cinnamon roll from the Hilltop Cafe in L’Anse.

A pasty lunch at the Hut Inn in Kearsarge is included in the tour cost. Dinner will be at the Pilgrim River Steakhouse in Houghton. Fred Huffman of Marquette Country Tours will lead the tour.… Read the rest
