Marquette – Northern Michigan University’s Physics Department will offer area residents an opportunity to safely view this area’s partial solar eclipse on Wednesday, August 21 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the NMU Observatory dome.

Viewers will be able to see the eclipse through a telescope equipped with a sun filter. Please enter at the rotunda entrance at NMU’s West Science Building and follow directional signs to the catwalk of the Observatory Dome. Overflow visitors will be able to view NASA streaming video of the eclipse in a nearby classroom.The event is free.

Marquette – A Solar Eclipse Open House will be held on Monday, August 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Community Room and outside the Peter White Public Library.

Marquette – Superior Arts Youth Theatre will offer Preschool and Early Elementary School Acting Camp on Monday, August 21 through Friday, August 25 from 10 a.m. to noon each day in the SAYT’s Audition Room on the 3rd Floor of Graveraet Elementary School in Marquette.

Ages from preschool to 8 years to be introduced to performing arts and expand upon their already growing skill sets. They will be introduced to all aspects of acting, music, and dance through acting games and imagination exercises while working together to put on a final production. A performance will be offered on Friday, August 25 from noon to 1 p.m.
