Escanaba – Strings on the Bay, the summer chamber music series sponsored by Bay de Noc Community College, will offer its final concert of the season on Tuesday, August 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Besse Center Theater on the Bay College campus.

“True North Quartet,” a string quartet group from the Ann Arbor area, will perform a program entitled “A Night at the Movies.”

Marquette – The Marquette Regional History Center will offer a Historic Bus Tour on Tuesday, August 8 at 1 p.m. beginning at the Center on Spring Street in Marquette.

Take an entertaining, narrated journey through Marquette. The tour is commemorating World War I during the centennial of the Great War. The route takes you through the Historic District, down to the waterfront, and through the streets of Marquette. You will learn interesting historical facts about the Queen City of the North as you hear a general history narration throughout the journey from your tour guide. Through colorful characters that hop on the bus to share their stories, you will learn how the people of Marquette were affected by the Great War, and what everyday life was like here one hundred years ago.

Marquette – “Creating Confident Caregivers” workshops will start on Tuesday, August 8 from 3 to 5 p.m. in Marquette.

Creating Confident Caregivers is a program in select regions of Michigan, for family caregivers of persons with dementia and/or memory loss. Creating Confident Caregivers is a six-session workshop led by trained dementia care specialists. This university tested program provides participants with information, skills and attitudes to manage stress and increase their effectiveness as a Caregiver.

L’Anse – UPCAP’s Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program will offer a free “Welcome to Medicare” seminar on Tuesday, August 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Conference Room at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L’Anse.

The seminar is targeted towards folks that will be eligible for Medicare sometime within the next six months. Learn the basics of Medicare, and discuss what folks should be thinking about when making decisions on their Medicare choices. Information about programs that may be available to help pay out-of-pocket Medicare costs will also be discussed.

There is no charge to attend this informational event and a helpful workbook will be provided to each participant.
