Marquette – Northern Michigan University will host Summer Skilled Trade Camps, for 7th through 12th graders, Tuesday, July 18 through Thursday, July 20 at the Jacobetti Complex.

Youth may attend full-day or half-day sessions taught by NMU faculty and qualified community members. They will learn the following trades: auto and small-engine repair, forestry, culinary cuisine, cosmetology, crime scene investigation, welding, building design/construction and bicycle repair and maintenance.

Marquette – Teen Zone Chill at the Library will be held on Tuesday, July 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Peter White Public Library.

Grab a snack and a friend or two, and chill out in a comfortable, air-conditioned booth at the library. Play board games, work on the community jigsaw puzzle, or browse through the teen book shelves. Lemonade and iced tea will be provided.

Marquette – BookNotes Coffeehouse, an evening of conversation, poetry, music and refreshments, will be held on Tuesday, July 18 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.

John Smolens, author of numerous novels including Wolf’s Mouth, One Book One Community’s 2017 selection, will interview three poets: Keith Taylor, Cindy Hunter Morgan, and Thomas Lynch. The evening will be rounded out with the acoustic, folksy yet eccentric, music of Kerry Yost and Dylan Trost. Snowbound Books will be there for book sales and signing, and the Peter White Library will provide light refreshments.
