Calendar – Theater – Superior Arts Youth Theatre Technical Theater Camp – July 17-21

Marquette – Superior Arts Youth Theatre will offer a Technical Theater Camp on Monday, July 17 through Friday, July 21 from 10 a.m. to noon each day at the Lake Superior Theatre on Lakeshore Boulevard in Marquette.

This camp will teach valuable technical theater skills to those ages 10 to 18. Through the workshops students will be able to learn a variety of backstage jobs and training workshops will focus on costuming, stage make-up, stage painting techniques, backstage safety and training, properties design, sound design, set design, lighting
design, special effects and stage management. This camp will conclude with a game of Tech Olympics in which students will demonstrate their new theatrical abilities to the public on Friday, July 21 from noon to 1 p.m.

Calendar – Theater – Superior Arts Youth Theatre Acting Intensive Workshop – July 17-21

Marquette – Superior Arts Youth Theatre will offer an Acting Intensive Workshop on Monday, July 17 through Friday, July 21 from 10 a.m. to noon each day in the SAYT’s Audition Room on the 3rd Floor of Graveraet Elementary School in Marquette.

Young Actors will hone their acting skills with this week long acting intensive. Youth going into middle school to twelfth grade may attend this workshop to expand their acting experience, and push their abilities. Through participation in challenging scene work and acting exercises students will spend time training in physical acting,
character performance, line reads, on-stage connections, and much more. A performance will be offered on Friday, August 25 from noon to 1 p.m.

Calendar – Elder Care – REST Training in Houghton – July 17-18

Houghton – U.P. Area Agency on Aging/UPCAP will offer REST Training on Monday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 18 from 1 to 5 p.m. with time built in for lunch and breaks, at the Copper Country Mental Health Institute, 900 West Sharon Avenue in Houghton. Attendance both days are required in order to receive certification as a REST companion. Sign in 15 minutes prior to class time.

Rest is an educational course that provides respite training to adults and teens who want to offer care to those in need and provide assistance to their caregivers. As a REST companion (volunteer or paid), you give the gift of your time to provide a valuable service.
