Come celebrate the beginning of summer and register for the reading program. There will be fun games and activities for kids of all ages in the Community Room, with tween and teen activities in the Marquette Arts and Culture Center. Rapid River – The Hiawatha National Forest, together with numerous partners and volunteers, will sponsor the 26th Annual “Kids Fishing Day” on Saturday, June 10 at the Camp 7 Lake Campground in Rapid River.

This free, fun-filled day includes a casting contest, raffle prizes, minnow races, face painting, free food, and two fishing ponds for kids ages 12 and under. Professional Fisherman Greg Karch will be there with his “Backyard Bass” gear and will teach youngsters how to cast. Smokey Bear will be there as well. The first 300 children who attend will receive a free goodie bag with items donated by fishing tackle manufacturers. There will be abundant raffle prizes for the youngsters which include fishing rods, tackle boxes and other outdoor items. Marquette – Pictured Rocks Cruises will be hosting the annual “Yoopers Ride Free Days” and the “Pictured Rocks Days” festival hosted by the Alger County Chamber of Commerce will be across the street at Bay Shore Park on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11 in Munising.

U.P. residents interested in taking the free cruise will find cruises will depart every hour on the hour from the Munising City Pier, weather-permitting, starting at 9 a.m. and running until 7 p.m. Tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of 1,500 free tickets available per day. ID’s must be presented.

The festival includes bands, nature shows, over 80 vendors, food, interpretive, demonstration and informational booths, and a petting zoo!

Munising – The Munising Township Fire Department Golf Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 10 beginning at 11 a.m. in Munising.

This is a two hole golf tournament, four person teams, with two divisions, one for men, and one for Co-ed teams. The price is $240 per four person team. There will be prizes awarded, as well as, a meal, and raffles. Proceeds for event benefit the Munising Township Fire Department, as well as, the Carmon Anderson Memorial fund, which helps victims of fires with expenses, lodging, and sometimes cash benefits.
