Marquette – The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) Chapter 1900, will meet on Wednesday, May 24 at 1:30 p.m. in Room B of the Marquette Senior Center, on the lower level of City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue in Marquette. Members may enter from Spring Street, behind City Hall.

Calendar – Families – 18th Annual Family Night in Ishpeming – May 24

Ishpeming – The NICE District and Aspen Ridge Elementary School will host the 18th Annual Family Night on Wednesday, May 24 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Aspen Ridge Elementary School in Ishpeming.

Come out for an evening filled with fun activities including kite making, rock-hounding, luging, nail painting, math and science experiments, Seaborg’s mini planetarium, flubber, music, robotics, photo booths, reading fun activities, bus rides, karaoke, cupcake mining, hydroponics, Escape the Room, and so much more!

Exhibits include the Chocolay Raptor Center, U.P. Trappers Association, DNR, Rock and Mineral Club, Cliffs Shaft Museum, Bell EMS, UPAWS, USDA Conservation Department, the Ishpeming Township Fire Department and Heritage Trail, Central U.P. Sports Fishing Association, National Weather Service and UPPCO, just to name just a few.

Calendar – Health – Diabetes PATH Workshop to Begin – May 24

Marquette – The Diabetes PATH (Personal Action Towards Health) workshop, a six week class, will meet on Wednesdays beginning on May 24 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Lost Creek Community Building in Marquette.

The workshop helps people living with daily challenges of diabetes, learn skills and tools needed to improve their health and manage their symptoms. Subjects covered include: symptoms of diabetes, stress, managing fatigue and emotional problems, exercise, healthy eating, medications, and working with health care providers.

Marquette – Opening Night of “Dancing with our Stars Marquette County Style” will be on Wednesday, May 24 at 6 p.m. at Forest Roberts Theatre on the campus of Northern Michigan University. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Watch as the judges give their initial thoughts and critiques of the performances and then judge for yourself! For the very first time, you’ll get to cast your vote for your favorite couple after the show. The fundraiser will benefit the U.P. Hospice Foundation and its programs with 100% of proceeds being donated back to Hospice patients and their families.
