Marquette – Chapter Book Club, for ages 8 to 12, will meet on Monday, May 22 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Youth Atrium of the Peter White Public Library.

Listen to a chapter a week, illustrate that chapter, and then create your own book of illustrations. This month will feature “Fantastic Mr. Fox” by Roald Dahl.

Marquette – National Alliance on Mental Illness-Alger/Marquette will host a round-table discussion “Being an Advocate for Mental Health Care” on Monday, May 22 at 7 p.m. in the Baraga Place Conference Room, 129 W. Baraga Avenue, Marquette.

This is an opportunity to learn about public policy that affects the lives of those living with mental illness, and offer strategies for advocating on current legislation. Lucy Wilcox, Clinical Practices Coordinator/NorthCare Network, and Kyle Rambo, Executive Director/Catholic Social Services of the UP, will lead this discussion.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Alger/Marquette offers confidential educational meetings for individuals living with mental illness, and friends or families living with an individual with mental illness. Anyone interested in advocating for better mental health care is invited to join this meeting.

The guest speaker will be Kevin Wong, who is regarded as a subject matter expert regarding the impact of legalization of marijuana to Colorado. Kevin joined the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program in 2013 as the lead strategic and research project analyst.
