Marquette – G.L.O.W. Club will meet on Friday, May 5 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library.

Teens in grades 9 to 12 who support equality for all genders and sexualities are invited to join G.L.O.W. (Gay Lesbian or Whatever). Give and receive support and socialize while painting squares for a “pride quilt” to be hung in the PWPL Teen Zone. Refreshments will be served.

Graduating seniors will present their work from all areas of the School of Art and Design including ceramics, computer art, drawing / painting, electronic imaging, furniture design, graphic communication, human centered design, illustration, jewelry / metals / blacksmithing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and woodworking.

Negaunee – The Negaunee Male Chorus will offer their annual spring concert on Friday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in the Negaunee High School Auditorium.

Songs they will be performing include some classical and a few more humorous songs. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Ishpeming High School’s Music Program.

NCLL Hosts Oregon Trail Presentation – 5/3/17

Marquette, MIMay 2, 2017 – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will host a presentation about the Oregon Trail from 12:15-1:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, at the Negaunee Senior Center. There will also be an optional lunch at 11 a.m.

Researcher and author Robert Dobson, who has traveled the Oregon Trail four times, will lead the presentation. He will share diary excerpts, interactions with Native Americans, maps and photos of wagons and equipment, the hardships of the trail itself and the influence of weather and disease.
