Marquette – The Fearless Readers Teacher-Librarian Book Club will meet on Thursday, February 23 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library.

All high school and middle school teachers, as well as teen services library staff, are invited to share and expand their appreciation of Young Adult literature. Bring one of your favorite Young Authors books and learn about great new titles students will love.

Marquette – Carter Wilson, head of Northern Michigan University’s Political Science Department, will present the lecture “Is the U.S. Criminal Justice System Racist?” on Thursday, February 23 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in 1322 Jamrich Hall on the campus of Northern Michigan University.

Marquette – STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Program will be offered on Thursday, February 23 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room or the Marquette Arts and Culture Center on the lower level of the Peter White Public Library.

STEAM for grades K through 5. Kids will be grouped according to grade level. The event is free.

Marquette – Forensic Scientist Zach Blaksmith and addiction medicine physican Dr. John Lehtinen will present “Drugs: More Dangerous Than You Think” on Thursday, February 23 at 7 p.m. in Jamrich Hall Auditorium at Northern Michigan University.

Blaksmith will present “What’s in Your Drugs?” He will talk about his experience analyzing confiscated drugs and how those drugs can be laced with other dangerous substances. Lehtinen, the only board-certified addiction medicine physician in the Upper Peninsula, will present “The Addicted Brain.”

Marquette, MIFebruary 20, 2017 – Joan Kimball, business development director at the Quebec Government Office in Chicago, will give a free public presentation titled “Building a Career from Scratch” at Northern Michigan University. The U.P. native and NMU graduate provides strategic business development and marketing expertise to more than 400 manufacturers and key industry association/government partners in Quebec.

Kimball will explain how to build a business from an idea, using the keys of communication and fearlessly navigating international business relations. She will share her own experience becoming an innovative marketer, high-energy entrepreneur and guerrilla business development leader for world markets and industries.
