Compensation:

Short Description of Position:
Seeking a highly organized multi-tasker to professionally answer phones, do typical administrative tasks, run a cash register for our Shopping Show, provide sales support, promotional support, maintain newsletter, write promotional messages & scripts, write and perhaps record on-air promotional scripts for Items-of-the-Day and specials, run fax machine, complete daily reconciliation report, do daily backups, run front desk & reception. Quick mastery of phone/fax/email and other office systems is a must. A variety of other tasks and duties may be required as directed by management.
Detailed Description of Position:
- Successful candidate will positively impress public as first person the public interacts with when contacting GLR studios by phone, email, other electronic means, or in person.
- The position available is for a full-time Shopping Show Coordinator, Reception Person, Administrative Assistant, and all around Promotional Assistant.
- Candidates must have excellent customer service skills to satisfy both shopping show customers and deliver highest quality results to our clients. Great Lakes Radio’s Shopping Show has both typical retail cash register duties as well as continually expanding online components.
- Candidate must be highly organized, work well under pressure, detail-oriented and extremely good at follow through and completion of projects.
- Candidate must learn quickly and meet new challenges frequently since tasks and challenges change frequently.
- Candidate must have great people skills including professional language skills, effective writing skills, and ability to transform an idea or directive into reality with minimal supervision.
- Self-starters are more successful than followers in this position.

An organized, pleasant speaker that can learn new things and keeps cool under stress are the best traits to start with.
Computer knowledge and comfort a must. Should be comfortable with office productivity products like Microsoft Office, Email, Online posting, and be comfortable with MS Windows. The main focus of this position is mostly about the passion for serving community and listeners through promotion of local events, happenings, businesses and interviews.
Applicants will need to be computer savvy, work with a studio board (after training) and/or remote tracking software and be proficient handling people and phones/equipment at the same time.
The successful candidate should be able to grow and develop their skills.
Previous radio experience not required, but an organized, quick-learner is a must.
Successful candidate should be able setup and conduct interviews (including recording and editing them), plus post summary of Interviews (usually with photos) and daily show activity on the Internet. Ability to do telephone Interviews, In-Studio Interviews, and Field Interviews will be required from time-to-time; the ability to learn quickly to do these radio-related skills can’t be understated.
Candidate Should be good at reading (ads/live reads/spots/promos/announcements) for sponsors, reading weather, reading local and state sports scores, and announcing local news items, birthdays, calendar items, and school closings. Unexpected things arise, so the successful candidate should be adaptable enough to smoothly work out problems on the fly.
The successful Candidate should be able to take incoming information, organize it, and followup to provide community with real sense of LOCAL flavor and LOCAL interests. Candidate should be able to make any event or news relevant to listeners and our web visitors.
