Ability to do telephone Interviews, In-Studio Interviews, and Field Interviews will be required from time-to-time.  Successful candidate must be able to learn quickly to do these radio-related skills is a must.

Candidate Should be good at reading (ads/live reads/spots/promos/announcements) for sponsors, reading weather, reading local and state sports scores, and announcing local news items, birthdays, calendar items, and school closings. Unexpected things arise, so the successful candidate should be adaptable enough to smoothly work out problems on the fly.

The successful Candidate should be able to take incoming information, organize it, and followup as needed. Candidate should be able to make any event or news relevant to listeners and our web visitors.

Candidate should be able to work with little or no supervision once trained and have the qualities of a self-starter, self-motivated person.

Candidate must be at least 18 years old.

Additional Requirements

Ability to be trained and master industry specific software and tools, live-read system and other web-related tools are a must. Ability to post on web short summaries of daily guests, interviews, calendar items, and upcoming events.

Successful candidate should be able setup and conduct interviews (including recording and editing them), plus post summary of Interviews (usually with photos)  and post show activity on the Internet.  Ability to do telephone Interviews, In-Studio Interviews, and Field Interviews will be required from time-to-time; the ability to learn quickly to do these radio-related skills is a must.

Candidate Should be good at reading (ads/live reads/spots/promos/announcements) for sponsors, reading weather, reading local and state sports scores, and announcing local news items, birthdays, calendar items, and school closings. Unexpected things arise, so the successful candidate should be adaptable enough to smoothly work out problems on the fly.

The successful Candidate should be able to take incoming information, organize it, and followup as needed. Candidate should be able to make any event or news relevant to listeners and our web visitors.

Candidate should be able to work with little or no supervision once trained and have the qualities of a self-starter, self-motivated person.

Candidate must be at least 18 years old.

Additional Requirements

Ability to be trained and thoroughly learn industry specific software and tools, and live-read system and other web-related tools are a must. Ability to post on web short summaries of daily guests, interviews, calendar items, and upcoming events.

Writing skills and commercial spots writing in particular are highly valued skills.

Excellent communication skills, pleasant public presentation, creative insights preferred.

Other tasks as requested by management from time to time.

Northern Michigan University Great Lakes Collegiate Job Fair

The Great Lakes Radio table at NMU’s job fair March 20th.

Marquette  -  March 20, 2013  -  Great Lakes Radio, Inc. participated in Northern Michigan University’s Great Lakes Collegiate Job Fair this past Wednesday, March 20th.

The fair brings employers from all over the Great Lakes Regions to NMU for students to meet and interview.

There were a ton of businesses for the Great Lakes Region!

From 1-4 p.m. Heather, Great Lakes Radio’s Broadcaster and Multimedia Reporter, was there to talk with Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, Writing and many other students majoring in their specific fields. She handed out internship information for prospective media and on-air interns and talked about the sales executive positions available. Heather collected a handful of resumes.

The students learned about the opportunities at Great Lakes Radio, which included full and part time jobs, along with internships.

Great Lakes Radio job opportunities

Rita and Heather had fun!

Marquette February 14, 2013  -  Northern Michigan University hosted their annual Summer Job Fair from 1-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 13th in the Great Lakes Rooms at the University Center.

 

Students of all ages with all major came to see what Michigan’s Upper Peninsula had to offer. From summer camps to the Navy the students had a ton of opportunities to choose from, including Great Lakes Radio!

At the Great Lakes Radio table you could sign up for a free lunch or get an instant lunch for filling out a survey. Rita Noordyk, GLR Business Manger, and Heather Seppanen, GLR Broadcaster and Multimedia Reporter, explained to the prospective employees and handed out information on jobs Great Lakes Radio offered. Available positions were for a sales executive and marketing executive as well as on-air DJ’s and interns, media interns, sports broadcasters, graphic design, website design, news writing, community promotions, social networking, and blogging.
