Negaunee – The Negaunee Senior Center will host its 2nd annual “Senior” Prom on Sunday, April 29 from 2 to 6 p.m. at 410 Jackson Street in Negaunee.
Tickets are $5 in advance, and may be purchased at the center from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or from any dance committee member. Tickets will be $7 at the door.
An optional dinner will be served for an additional $3. Dinner tickets will be available at the door only. For more information, call 475-6266.

Marquette – The Northern Center For Lifelong Learning will offer at “Minimizing the Tax Bite for Seniors” class on Monday, January 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Room 101-B of the Superior Dome.
Patrick Brennan, registered tax professional, will discuss recent changes in state and federal tax codes, as well as the basics of income tax issues.
The class is free for NCLL members and $5 for others. Registration deadline is Thursday, January 19. Call 249-3640 to register.

Marquette – An AARP Senior Safe Driving course will be offered through the Northern Center for Lifelong Learning on Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Instructor Don Balmer will discuss some of the aging-related changes that can affect driving ability, along with ways to compensate for them. The goal is to keep seniors driving safely as long as possible. Some companies offer discounts on auto insurance premiums for completing the class.
The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Register by Sunday, October 30, by calling Balmer at 249-1273.

Escanaba – The annual Upper Peninsula Senior Citizens Convention and Expo will be held on Thursday, September 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ruth Butler Exhibition Building at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba.
This year’s theme is “The World of Sports.” Attendees are encouraged to wear clothing that celebrates and promotes their favorite sports team. Those who wear the most outrageous sports fan costume will be eligible to win a $100 prize.
Morning activities will include informational exhibits, health screenings, raffles, glamour shots, bingo with cash prizes, and a silent auction. Exhibitors will provide free blood pressure checks, oxygen testing and other health screening. As always, information pertaining to all programs important to seniors will be available. Flu and pneumonia vaccines will also be available for a fee; Medicare will be billed for those covered by Medicare Part B. Those covered by Medicare must provide their Medicare card.
The afternoon’s general session will feature digestive health specialist Dr. James Surrell from Marquette General Health Systems. Surrell will speak on healthy lifestyle choices. A representative from the Delta County YMCA will teach armchair aerobics, and the World of Sports Funniest Bloopers will be shown.
The registration fee is $7, which includes information, activities, entertainment and a Philly cheese steak luncheon. The deadline to register is September 19. Negaunee – The Negaunee Senior Center will host its annual country and western dance on Sunday, August 28 from 2 to 6 p.m. at 410 Jackson Street in Negaunee.
Featured will be music by The Hart Beats, raffles and refreshments. Tickets cost $5 in advance and may be purchased at the center from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or from any dance committee member. Tickets at the door will cost $7.
An optional lunch will be served for $4. Dinner tickets will be sold at the door only. Those wishing to donate salads or desserts for the meal and sign up ahead of time will receive one free dinner ticket.
