Escanaba – UPCAP’s Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program will offer a free “Welcome to Medicare” seminar on Thursday, April 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the UPCAP Lower Conference Room, 2501 14th Avenue South, Escanaba.

The seminar is targeted towards folks that will be eligible for Medicare sometime within the next six months. Learn the basics of Medicare, and discuss what folks should be thinking about when making decisions on their Medicare choices. Information about programs that may be available to help pay out-of-pocket Medicare costs will also be discussed.

There is no charge to attend this informational event and a helpful workbook will be provided to each participant. Hancock – UPCAP and U.P. Area Agency on Aging will be offering an 8 week “Matter of Balance” class on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. beginning on April 5 and ending on May 24 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church 1000 Quincy Street inHancock.

A Matter of Balance is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. Participants learn to set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and learn simple exercises to increase strength and balance.

Escanaba – A New Year A New You Senior Health Fair will be held on Friday, January 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at North Woods Senior Living, 501 South Lincoln Road in Escanaba.

This senior health fair will have over 20 vendors sharing information, programs and demonstrations that will be valuable for senior citizens and their care givers. Great door prizes will be given away. The community is invited to attend.
