Marquette, Mich.– Willow Farm Therapeutic  Riding is hosting a Volunteer Training this Sunday, April 22 from 4:30- 7:00 p.m.

If you are interested in working with horses and children with disabilities, this training is for you.

  • No experience needed
  • Must be able to walk for 2 hours

*Please wear closed toed shoes, tennis shoes or boots are preferred. Footing in the area is semi-firm sand.

17 Mile FUNdraising Walk – April 21

Gwinn, Mich.– Hosted by U.P. PINK POWER, a 17 Mile FUNdraising Walk will start at the Tall Timber Grocery in Gwinn this Saturday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m.

This walk is from Tall Timbers to Knotty Pine and there will be lunch and pit stops along the way! Walk, run, or bike.

If you raise $100 in pledges, you receive a walk shirt! All proceeds go to U.P. PINK POWER to help those in need.

Trenary – The 25th Ever Trenary Outhouse Classic will be held on Saturday, February 24 beginning with registration at 11 a.m. in downtown Trenary. The race begins at 2 p.m.

“25 Years Down the Crapper” is this year’s theme. All racers must be registered by 1 p.m. Spectator admission pins are $2 in advance or $4 on race day.

Bring your fur hat for the best fur hat contest in front of TJ Ryan’s Radio Booth. A mystery judge will choose the best hat for a cash prize.

Sands – An Antique and Vintage Snowmobile Show will be held on Saturday, February 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crossroads Restaurant and Lounge on M-553 in Sands.

Sleds must be at least 25 years old to be entered in the show. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The event will include a swap meet and vendors are welcome. Great Lakes Radio will be broadcasting live during the event.

There will be a loud pipes contest. Throughout the day there will be raffles, games for the kids, a blow-up contest, and many one-of-a-kind original and rare racing sleds on display. A vintage 1974 Polaris 175 snowmobile will also be raffled off.… Read the rest

Gwinn – The Jackpine 30 Sled Dog Race will begin on Saturday, February 17 at 10 a.m. at Larry’s Family Foods in Gwinn.

The race will follow a 26 mile course and conclude at First Baptist Church on North Billings Street in Gwinn. Awards will be presented at the church at the completion of the race.

Marquette/Gwinn – The U.P. 200 will begin with an opening ceremony on Friday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Marquette. The race begins at 7 p.m.

Walt Lindala and Frida Waara will welcome representatives, sponsors and spectators to the race. Many businesses will be hosting warm-up parties. The Midnight Run will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. or about 30 minutes after the last team of the U.P. 200 leaves the chute.
