Big Bay – The Water Sentinels will be sampling the streams of the Yellow Dog Plains on Sunday, May 20 beginning with participants meeting at 10 a.m. at the Huron Mountain Realty in Big Bay.
Everyone is welcome. Bring a lunch. The group usually gets back to Big Bay about 5 p.m.

Marquette – The Laughing Whitefish Audubon Society will sponsor a guided bird walk on Sunday, May 13 beginning at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of the bog walk at Presque Isle Park in Marquette.

Marquette – The Inaugural Boat Swap will be offered by Superior Watershed Partnership and Land Trust on Saturday, May 12 at the Berry Events Center east parking lot in Marquette.
Boat drop-off will be from 8 to 10 a.m.; early bird checkout for Superior Watershed members will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m.; and sale and checkout for the general public will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A silent auction of select boats will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and pickup for unsold items or sold items will be from 2 to 3 p.m.

Munising – A spring wildflower hike. led by plant biologist Deb Le Blanc, will be held on Saturday, May 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. beginning at the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Visitor Center in Munising.
Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Marquette – The YMCA of Marquette County will host the 12th annual YMCA Run/Walk on Saturday, April 28 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Marquette YMCA.

Hancock – The Sons of Norway Ulseth Lodge will celebrate Vinterfestuka on Saturday, March 10 from 10 a.m. to noon, beginning the Chalet at Maasto Hilhto ski trails in Hancock.
Bring your skis or snowshoes and or just enjoy the potluck dinner, which will begin at noon in the Chalet. Bring soups, crockpots, breads, desserts and your own plates and eating utensils.

Marquette – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will offer a combined indoor-outdoor program on Wednesday, March 7 beginning at 1 p.m. at the U.S. National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in Ishpeming and ending at the Suicide Hill ski jump area.
Tom West, director of the hall of fame, and Bob Hendrickson will be the presenters.
The cost is a $3 donation at the door of the hall of fame. Advance registration is requested by Friday, March 2. Call Robert Dobson at 475-5752.
