Negaunee – The West End Community Concert Orchestra will offer a family friendly concert on Wednesday, March 22 at 7 p.m. in the Negaunee High School Auditorium.
Enjoy a night of music you will recognize. Water is the theme (it’s also World Water Day) and the orchestra, which is comprised of community and area high school musicians, will be dressed as pirates, Titanic passengers, sailors and more. “Under the Sea”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, and “My Heart Will Go On” are just a few of the songs featured. “Sea Dogs” by Lisa Wheeler will be acted out with life-sized puppets and song.

Marquette – The Northern Michigan University Music Department Guest Artist Series will feature a horn concert with Brian Carter on Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall on the campus of NMU.
Carter is principal horn of the Marquette Symphony and Gaylord Community Orchestra. He also performs with the Midland Symphony Orchestra, Sault Symphony Orchestra, Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra and other groups throughout Upper and northern Lower Michigan. Carter received his Bachelor of Music degree from Olivet College and his Master of Music degree from Michigan State University. He retired in 2013 as director of bands at Gaylord Middle School.

Ishpeming – The 10th annual Afternoon of Music Concert for Presbytery Point Bible Camp will be presented on Sunday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m. at United Presbyterian Church, 112 E. Euclid Street in Ishpeming.

Marquette – The Redmen Chorale/Symphony Orchestra will offer a concert on Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 201 E. Ridge Street in Marquette.

Marquette – Auditions for Northern Michigan Univeristy’s first-ever Battle of the Bands will be held on Saturday, March 18 at the Forest Roberts Theatre on the campus of NMU.
To secure an audition time, email David Pierce, technical director and production manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Video submissions will also be accepted from bands unable to make the live audition. Battle of the Bands will be held on Saturday, April 22, with the winner receiving a cash prize to be determined.
The theatre is partnering with Double Trouble DJs to offer full production support for the event. Local DJs will also play music between each band set.

Marquette – The Northern Michigan University Music Department Guest Artist Series will feature a concert with Marquette native and soprano Stephanie Beinlich on Wednesday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall on the campus of NMU.
Beinlich is a versatile soprano with extensive experience onstage and behind the scenes. In 2011, she studied with Seraphic Fire at the Professional Choral Institute, where she sang on their Grammy-nominated recording of Brahms’ “Ein deutches Requiem.” Other recent recordings include “Beneath the Ice” the debut album of composer George Fetner. She also holds degrees in voice and pedagogy from Western Michigan University and the University of South Carolina. Beinlich is on faculty with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and has previously taught at Newberry College and the University of North Dakota.
