15th Annual Marquette Area Blues Fest

Marquette, MI – The 15th Annual Marquette Area Blues Fest is happening on Labor Day weekend in Marquette, MI. Friday, August 31st through Sunday, September 2nd, 2018 at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in downtown Marquette.

Join the Marquette Area Blues Society in celebrating 15 years of world-class blues performances on the shore of beautiful Lake Superior. The weekend features a dozen prominent blues acts, delicious foods, ice cold craft beers, music workshops and much more all in a gorgeous lakefront setting in the heart of Marquette, MI.

Previous performers have included: Tab Benoit, Rick Estrin & the Nightcats, Toronzo Cannon, Shemekia Copeland, Bettye LaVette, Lil’ Ed & the Blues Imperials, Victor Wainwright, Samantha Fish.

End of Summer Blues Fest – August 25

HarborFest 2018 – August 24-26

Marquette, MI – Harborfest is one of the best free 2-day music festivals in the UP, but it’s so much more. It includes a beer and wine tent specializing in craft beers. It has food tents, Kids inflatable activities, a classic car & motorcycle show, a luge demonstration track to try, and the culmination of a fishing tournament with live dock side catch and release. It’s a family oriented event with a party atmosphere at night.

Music performances at HarborFest are a combination of local bands and major acts out of Chicago. Friday & Saturday HarborFest music has variety including country, folk, and blues but with a heavy emphasis on rock. Porcupine Mountains Music Festival – August 24-26

Ontonagon, MI – Come to the Porkies for our Annual Music Festival, with two stages, bands all weekend, a children’s tent and activities, and a hot food concession.

The festival will take place, under a big top canopy, rain or shine so bring an umbrella or poncho just in case. The average temperature in the area at this time of year is a high of 76 F and a low of 64 F, so dress for warm weather but bring a sweatshirt for the evening. The Porcupine Mountains Music Festival will be held at the Winter Sports Complex located within Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. Temporary, canopy covered stages will be set up at the base of the hill and several acres of open slope will be mowed and ready for your blankets and lawn chairs. Singer-songwriter Kitty Donohoe features Michigan and American folk music plus contemporary blues, Irish, and Canadian stylings. Free vineyard tour at 3 p.m. before the concert. Wine-tasting all afternoon; picnic lunches or snacking encouraged but no carry-in alcoholic beverages. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Rain or shine.
