Marquette – An informal worship service featuring gospel music and a pie social will be offered on Sunday, May 20 at 6 p.m. in the Social Room of First United Methodist Church, 111 E. Ridge Street, Marquette.
Music will be provided by members of the Sanctuary Choir, Hearts on Fire Praise Team, and special guest, Todd Noordyk on harmonica, ukelele and keyboards.
The event is free, open to all, and part of the monthly “Re-Imagine” series at First UMC. The church is barrier free. For more information, call 225-1344.

Gwinn – The Forsyth Singers will host the annual “Big Sing” on Saturday, May 19 at 7 p.m. at the Gwinn High School.
The concert will feature music from the Forsyth Singers, the Milwaukee Male Chorus, the Munising Vanguards, the Negaunee Male Chorus, the Nicolet Male Chorus and the Gwinn High School Chorale Men’s Ensemble.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students, and will be available at the door.

Marquette – The Flat Broke Blues Band will perform at Northern Michigan University as part of the Upper Peninsula Folklife Festival’s Coffee House Series on Saturday, May 19 at 7 p.m. in the University Center’s Peter White Lounge.
Flat Broke has played at a number of venues and special events across the upper Great Lakes Region for more than a decade. The band features two original members: guitarist/vocalist Walt Lindala and bassist/vocalist Mark Johnson. They are joined by guitarist/vocalist Mike Letts, drummer Jim Cohen and lead vocalist/harmonica player Lorrie Hayes.
Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. This concert is sponsored by the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center and by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs.

Marquette – The St. Paul’s “Celebrates the Arts” Series will present a concert with pianist Nancy Railey and violinist Connie Weiner on Saturday, May 19 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 201 E. Ridge Street, Marquette.
A suggested donation of $8 for adults, $4 for students, and $15 for a family will be collected at the recital. All proceeds will benefit the Marquette Women’s Center.

Marquette – The Marquette County Chamber Chorale will present “An Evening with Gilbert and Sullivan” on May 18 at 7:30 pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1700 W. Fair Avenue, Marquette.
The concert will feature choruses, solos from many Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and highlights from “The Mikado”
The Chamber Chorale is under the direction of Wayne Hanmer and accompanied by Dawn Betts. There will be a freewill donation at the door.

Ishpeming – The Negaunee Male Chorus will present their spring concert “Sing Your Way Home” on Saturday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at the W.C. Peterson Auditorium in Ishpeming.
Special guests will be the Delta County Remnants Barbershop Chorus and the Next Generation Quartet.

Marquette – The Marquette Symphony Orchestra will offer a concert “Music of the Ages” on Saturday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Kaufman Auditorium on North Front Street in Marquette.
The concert will feature Mozart’s “Overture to Idomeneo,” Haydn’s
“Symphony No. 94,” and Mahler’s “Symphony No. 1.”
Prior to the 7:30 p.m. concert, a pre-concert dinner will be held in
the Sky Room of the Landmark Inn. The dinner features commentary by symphony director Dr. Jacob Chi about the evening’s musical selections.
Tickets are limited for the pre-concert dinner; please call 228-0472 to make a reservation.
All concert attendees are invited to an afterglow celebration immediately following the concert at the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum.
