Marquette – The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market’s Grand Opening will be on Saturday, May 19 at the Marquette Commons.
The Grand Opening will feature music by Jeff Nelson from 9a.m. to 1 p.m. In celebration of the local food that is available early in the growing season, the Marquette Food Co-op will sponsor two demonstrations with Abbey Palmer of Rock River Farms from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. that will use produce available at market that day.
The Downtown Development Authority will also sponsor a children’s activity and supply the soil and seeds for children to take home and start plants of their own.
The market will be held every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until the end of October. Bridge Cards, Market FRESH, Project FRESH, credit, and debit cards are all accepted.

Gwinn – The Gwinn Area Community Schools will offer a Summer Food Service Program for children, Monday through Friday, June 11 through August 24.
Free meals will be made available to children 18 years of age and under or persons up to age 26 who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled that is recognized by a State or local public educational agency.
The meals will be provided without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, or disability. Meals will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army Building, 302 Explorer, K.I. Sawyer.
