Marquette – A “Blue Christmas” Service will be offered on Sunday, December 10 at 3 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 305 W. Magnetic Street, Marquette.

There will be a time to share in prayer, readings and music. Anyone who is mourning a loss, struggling with pain and desperation during this holiday season is encouraged to attend to focus on the comfort God offers during dark times.

Ishpeming – The United Presbyterian Church and Trinity Lutheran Church will hold a joint Thanksgiving worship service on Tuesday, November 21 at 7 p.m. at United Presbyterian Church,
112 E. Euclid Street in Ishpeming.

The Rev. Lauri Maki, Trinity’s interim pastor, will bring the message. The service will include scripture, music and an offering taken for the Salvation Army. A choir rehearsal will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the sanctuary, for anyone interested in singing.

Marquette – The Marquette Interfaith Forum will hold its annual Interfaith Evening of Thanks on Tuesday, November 21 at 7 p.m. at the Marquette Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 1510 M-28 in Chocolay Township.

The service will include readings, songs and prayers from Buddhist, Anishinaabe, Jewish, Muslim, Christian (Catholic and Protestant), Baha’i and Unitarian Universalist traditions. Following the service there will be breads and spreads from various traditions, tea, coffee and cider.

Calendar – Faith – Ecumenical Thanksgiving Worship Service in Marquette – Nov. 20

wMarquette – A Thanksgiving Ecumenical Christian Worship will be held on Monday, November 20 at 7 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 305 W. Magnetic Street in Marquette.

Participating churches are St. Paul’s Episcopal, the Marquette Hope Methodist Community, First Presbyterian Church, Prince of Peace Lutheran, and Messiah. An ecumenical choir will be invited to sing at this service. Please come to Messiah at 6:15 p.m. to rehearse with director Dave Dagenais and organist Kathy Strazzinski.

People of all faiths are invited to attend. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items as an offering for the evening. Food and monetary offerings will go to Marquette County Food Pantries. Checks should be made payable to Feeding America #5105.

Marquette – Bertha Somi will speak of her experiences in Rwanda as the Ambassador from Tanzania on Wednesday, October 11 at 6 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 305 Magnetic Street in Marquette.

Somi was in Rwanda during the tragic genocide that took place there. She is part of a delegation from Messiah’s companion congregation Azania Front in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Following her talk, the entire delegation will present a program on Tanzania.

Ishpeming – The eighth annual “Blessing of the Animals” hosted by St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Grace Episcopal Church will be held on Saturday, October 7 at 10:30 a.m.. at St. Joseph’s, 1189 Prairie Avenue in Ishpeming.
