Marquette – The Annual Interfaith Holocaust Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 24 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 201 E. Ridge Street in Marquette.
The Marquette Interfaith Forum and Temple Beth Sholom sponsor this annual remembrance of the Holocaust with prayers and readings from multiple faith groups, choral presentations and guest speaker Irene Miller, a Survivor of the Holocaust as an 8 year old Jewish child in Poland. Ms. Miller is now a retired health care executive in Detroit and a frequent speaker on the Holocaust, diversity, prejudice and acceptance and prevention of bullying.… Read the rest

Marquette – An Eucumenical Good Friday worship service, with participation by several congregations on Friday, April 14 from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 305 W. Magnetic Street, Marquette.
The service will be divided into several small segments. Come for part of the service, or stay the entire time. There will be special music, scripture readings, inspirational messages, and time for personal reflection.

Marquette – All are invited to participate in a four-day Lenten mission that will begin on Sunday, March 19 from 3:30 to 5 p.m., followed by a potluck dinner, at St. Michael Catholic Parish in Marquette.
From Monday, March 20 through Wednesday, March 22, the mission will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. followed by a social. The mission will include the celebration of the Mass on March 22. Called “Time for God in a Busy World,” the mission will be led by Oblate Father John Graden and Mary Sellars Malloy.
Partially funded by Legacy of Faith and a donation by St. Christopher Parish of Marquette, the mission will include Scripture, music, prayer and reflection. Freewill offerings to offset the cost of the mission to St. Michael Parish will be accepted. Marquette – Messiah Lutheran Church will be focusing on the issue of poverty and what can be done about it during the season of Lent. Lenten worship services will be held on Wednesdays from March 8 through April 5 at 12:30 and 6 p.m. at the church, 305 W. Magnetic Street in Marquette.

Escanaba – The Annual Lenten Breakfast and Musical Program will be held on Saturday, March 4 beginning at 9:15 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 600 South Lincoln Road in Escanaba.
A free-will offering will be taken at the program, part of which will go toward Walk for Warmth. Space is limited to 200 for breakfast, but unlimited for the program. Marquette – Lake Superior Hospice will host a Memorial Service Honoring Our Loved Ones on Thursday, January 26 at 5:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, 425 Fisher Street in Marquette.
Anyone in the community who has lost a loved one and would like to honor and celebrate their memory is invited for peaceful reflection and remembrance during the service of music, prayer, silent meditation and a bell ringing ceremony with a lighting of candles.
A reception will immediately follow the service with light refreshments. Gathering with others who have suffered a similar loss offers healing, encouragement, and a reminder that we are not alone in bearing our grief.

Ishpeming – “Messy Church,” a hands-on, multi-age, family-oriented Sunday School program will begin on Sunday, January 8 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 801 Hemlock Street in Ishpeming.
There will be activities like fossil prints, exploding art, mini-marshmallow crossbows, lava lamps, fruit catapult, and the Bible stories and songs that go along with these activities. Come join the fun. You might get messy.
