Marquette – Join the Children’s Museum and the Great Lakes Center for Youth Development for a free celebration of family and friends on Wednesday, July 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum, 123 W. Baraga Avenue in Marquette.

There will be fun birthday themed crafts and games, door prizes, ice cream sundaes, live music and the Gordon Family Fish Fry ($10 per person while supplies last) in the courtyard. A drawing for a playhouse will also be held.

Marquette – “Nicole’s Reptile Adventures,” a summer program series offered by volunteer, Nicole Shane, will feature a program on snakes on Wednesday, July 19 at 10 a.m. at the MooseWood Nature Center at Presque Isle Park in Marquette.

“Ssslither on into learning about Michigan’s scaly friends.” Shane will share fun facts and information on some of our Michigan snakes through photographs, hands-on learning, crafts and exploration. Recommended ages for the program are 5 to 13 years and families are encouraged to attend this fun-filled program.

Ishpeming – The NICE District and Aspen Ridge Elementary School will host the 18th Annual Family Night on Wednesday, May 24 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Aspen Ridge Elementary School in Ishpeming.

Come out for an evening filled with fun activities including kite making, rock-hounding, luging, nail painting, math and science experiments, Seaborg’s mini planetarium, flubber, music, robotics, photo booths, reading fun activities, bus rides, karaoke, cupcake mining, hydroponics, Escape the Room, and so much more!

Exhibits include the Chocolay Raptor Center, U.P. Trappers Association, DNR, Rock and Mineral Club, Cliffs Shaft Museum, Bell EMS, UPAWS, USDA Conservation Department, the Ishpeming Township Fire Department and Heritage Trail, Central U.P. Sports Fishing Association, National Weather Service and UPPCO, just to name just a few.

The event is for Marquette county mothers who are pregnant and families with children up to six months old. The baby shower will have baby furniture, diapers, food processors and more that will be given away.

Marquette – A Family Literacy Night with the Marquette Symphony Orchestra will be held on Thursday, April 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum, 123 W. Baraga Avenue in Marquette.

This is a free family night for preschool and early elementary age children. There will be free books and prizes to take home, as well as snacks and activities. The event is sponsored by the Literacy Legacy Fund of Michigan and AmeriCorps through MARESA.
