DNR Offers ‘Beyond BOW’ Mother-Daughter Event in Marquette County

Marquette, MI – The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) Program is offering a Beyond BOW mother and daughter weekend workshop at the Little Presque Isle Cabins, located north of Marquette.

This July 13-15 weekend workshop is limited to eight participants. Opportunities include, kayaking, hiking, fire building, and wilderness first aid, for mothers and their daughters, ages 10 and up.

The cabins are located north of Marquette along Marquette County Road 510.

The $95 registration fee includes lunch and dinner on Saturday, two nights lodging in a rustic cabin at Little Presque Isle, a T-shirt and access to kayaks for the kayaking session. Participants will need to bring appropriate clothing for hiking and kayaking, as well as camping gear.

Chamber Children’s Carnival – May 18

Ishpeming, Mi.– The Chamber Children’s Carnival, presented by Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce, will be at the River Rock Lanes & Banquet Center this Friday, May 18, from 5:30- 7:30 p.m.

This is a fun, free event for children to enjoy games, face painting, a bounce house, prizes, and more… Parents can have fun, too! Also, every child gets a hot dog and a pop!

The Grand Prize is a bicycle, so make sure to stick around and see if your child is the winner.
