Negaunee – The Negaunee Senior Center will offer a continental breakfast on Tuesday, July 7 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Cost is $3.

The Negaunee High School Class of 1948 will meet at 10 a.m. For more information, call 475-9195.

Senior Appreciation Day will be held at the center from 1 to 3 p.m. with free entertainment and refreshments.

Auditions for The Music Man July 6

Calumet – Auditions for “The Music Man” by Meredith Wilson, will be held on Monday, July 6 at 7 p.m. at the Calumet Players Building on 6th Street in Calumet.

Performances are scheduled for September 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19 at the Calumet Theatre.

Parts are available for all ages.

Cemetery Tours July 5

Negaunee – In celebration of Negaunee Pioneer Days, Negaunee Historical Society will offer cemetery tours on Sunday, July 5 at 2 and 3 p.m. beginning at the Historical Society.

Negaunee – In celebration of Negaunee Pioneer Days, an Old Towne Festival will be held on Sunday, July 5 from 1 to 8 p.m. at Jackson Mine Park on Tobin Street in Negaunee.

There will be live music, food, children's games and a beer garden.

1st Annual Walk and Roll Aug. 15

Marquette – Superior Alliance for Independent Living (SAIL) will sponsor the 1st Annual Walk and Roll on Saturday, August 15 from 9 a.m. to noon at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette.

The event is a 10K, 5K or a 1/2 mile course, where registered participants can walk or roll in their wheelchair, bike or skateboard.

Participants will collect contributions prior to the race and all proceeds will go to SAIL to provide social and recreational activities to persons with disabilities.

Ishpeming Community Picnic July 4

Ishpeming – The Annual Ishpeming Community Picnic will be held on Saturday, July 4 immediately following the parade at the Al Quaal Recreation Area.

There will be food booths, kids' crafts, games, pony rides and more.

Beer and wine will be sold on site. No carry-ins of alcoholic beverages will be permitted.

The Colgate Country Showdown will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.

Music by local bands will be provided from 4 to 9 p.m.

Also featured will be the Ishpeming High School Alumni Softball tournament.

Fireworks will be displayed at dusk.

Ishpeming 4th of July Parades

Ishpeming – The Ishpeming 4th of July Parades will begin at 10 a.m. with a Children's Parade, starting at the Mather Inn parking lot, proceeding down Main Street and ending at Division Street.

Kids age 12 and under are invited to decorate their bikes, march in the parade with their pets and play instruments.

The Community Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Third and Empire Streets.

The parade will continue from Third to Cleveland, to Main Street and then to Division. Units will disband at Division and Seventh.

20th Annual Firecracker 5k Race/1 Mile Walk July 4

Ishpeming – The 20th Annual Firecracker 5K Race/1 Mile Walk will be held on Saturday, July 4 beginning with registration from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. at Al Quaal Recreation Area in Ishpeming.

The race will begin at 8:45 a.m.

Registration fee is $15. There will be awards for the first 3 places in all classes.

T-shirts and a goodie table will be available.

Registration forms are available at Curves, Ishpeming Chamber of Commerce and the Cliffs Shaft Museum.

Marquette – American Legion Post #44 of Marquette will hold a re-dedication ceremony on Saturday, July 4 at 11 a.m. for the Veteran's Memorial in Harlow Park.

All bricks purchased since April 2008 will be initiated in the ceremony.

Bike Decorating at U.P. Children’s Museum July 3

Marquette – Bike decorating, in preparation for the Marquette Area Bike Decorating Contest, a big event for children ages 1 to 13 will be held on Friday, July 3 from noon to 2 p.m. at the U.P. Children's Museum In Marquette.

Bring a bike, scooter, wagon, or any non-motorized vehicle to decorate. Decorating supplies will be available.

The event is free.!
