Marquette – Pat Lelvis. a U.P native and member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Marquette, will share a report with pictures about her most recent trip to Pakistan in Perspectives From a Missionary” on Thursday, August 19 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1318 Presque Isle in Marquette.

An evening presentation will be held at 7 p.m at Messiah Lutheran Church, 305 W. Magnetic Street in Marquette.

Pat served as a missionary in Pakistan for fifteen years and will share her unique perspective on events and people in that part of the world. Enjoy a good cup of coffee and attend this free, interesting presentation.

Calendar – Faith – Worship at Presque Isle – Aug. 11

Marquette – Worship at Presque Isle, an ecumenical worship service and picnic, will be held on Wednesday, August 11 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Presque Isle Park in Marquette.

A fellowship picnic will begin at 5:30 p.m. Families must provide their own meal. Beverages will be provided. At 7 p.m., a service will take place, including Holy Communion and a joint choir featuring participants from eight churches. Music will be provided by “Hearts on Fire,” the worship band of First United Methodist Church.

Other congregations participating include: Messiah, St. Mark’s and Prince of Peace Lutheran, First Presbyterian, First, Grace, and Skandia United Methodist and St. Paul’s Episcopal churches.

Raymond Berg, a sixties rock and roll star who has been inducted into the Minnesota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will offer special music. Suzanne Berg will speak on “Joy in the Journey.”

Marquette – Great Lakes Recovery Centers, Inc. invites the community to attend an evening with Pastor Henry Covington on Wednesday, June 23 at 6 p.m. in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center at NMU.

Pastor Covington is the Senior Pastor of Pilgrim Church/I am My Brother’s Keeper Ministries in Detroit. The church and Pastor Covington, were a focus of Mitch Albom’s international bestseller “Have A Little Faith,” which chronicled Pastor Covington’s unique path as well as the congregation and the hole in the church roof that went unfixed for years.

Admission is free with a donation of a food item. Donations will help supplement the food pantry at participating “Room At An Inn” churches and the residential food pantry at Great Lakes
Recovery Centers.

Marquette – Sister Johanna Seubert will present a program of simple music, lyrics and movements to connect with one’s spiritual essence and the essence of others on Saturday, June 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Healing Arts Center at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 201 E. Ridge Street, Marquette.

Cost is $10, and the registration deadline is June 18. Bring a sack lunch.

The movements and songs draw from more than 400 dances, with themes of inner and outer peace, healing and the celebration of life’s great mystery.

Come as You Are Worship will begin in darkness and offer a Procession of Light, the Easter Proclamation, Gospel readings and a message by Reverend Peter Andersen. This worship hour will also include the Affirmation of Baptism and the celebration of Holy Communion.

On Easter Sunday, April 4 at 8:45 a.m. Messiah will also be offering a traditional Lutheran worship hour, a brunch from 9 to 10 a.m. and an Informal worship at 11:15 a.m.
