The theme of the event is patriotic, remembering all war vets, police and firefighters.
The buffet dinner will include Ed’s Croatian Chicken and Gary’s Country-Style Ribs. There will also be a DJ spinning tunes. World Youth Day Pilgrims will be selling pop and homemade desserts for their Spain trip. Beer and wine will also be available for purchase. Meals will be available for take-out and whole chickens will also be for sale.

Dinners are $10 for most orders, $8 for 1/4 chicken, and $5 for 1/4 chicken for children 10 and under.

Rain or shine, dogs and their guardians will hit the ground walking in an effort to raise money for Marquette County’s homeless pets. The Walk will begin at the Lower Harbor Park, with the option to do a 1 mile to 2 mile walk route on the bike path.

Following the walk, there will be Finish Line Fun, with doggie contests (including best costume, look alike, stupid pet tricks and more), pet vendor business and service booths, raffles, kid’s face painting and a good time visiting with all the Great Dogs and their people pals. Free refreshments for you and your pooch will be available.

The event is a fall fundraiser for new equipment and to promote disc golf in Marquette. Registration fee is $10 with for all divisions – open, intermediate, beginner and women.

There will be prizes, disc golf stuff, CTP, a raffle and a 50/50 drawing. Lunch is included with the entry fee and if you wear red, white and blue gear (or something patriotic) you get an extra entry into the raffle.

On Saturday, September 11, donations will be accepted from noon to 5 p.m. at the Y’s Pine Street location and at the Peter White Public Library.

Community members are encouraged to donate items to the Tackle Hunger food drive to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11. The food will be donated to the Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank and the Salvation Army of Marquette Food Bank.

All packaging must be intact and without dents; no glass containers will be accepted. Suggested donations include canned fruits and vegetables, boxed dinners such as macaroni and cheese, cereals, pastas, rice and bulk items such as beans or peas.

Supplies needed are: backpacks, black and blue pens, No. 2 pencils, pencil boxes, pencil sharpeners – w/covers, notebooks, jumbo book covers, white glue sticks, crayons (24 count), scissors (all ages), erasers, rulers, folders – 2 pocket, colored markers – thin/wide, highlighters, composition books, protractors/compasses, water colors sketch pads, 3×5 index cards, personal hygiene items, etc. School nurses also request clothing items for younger children such as socks, underwear, sweat pants and sweat shirts.

Proceeds go to support a Mission Trip to Montana to supply and help repair/prepare/rebuild a church and parsonage in Browning Montana.

A silent auction will be held on Saturday with bidding from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items will be viewable on Friday.

The festival will run from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday. There will be live music throughout the festival. A classic car show is set for Saturday.

In addition, the Rotary Club has partnered with the city of Marquette’s Arts and Culture Division to put on a youth program from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday that includes a performance by local singer Adam Whittington.
