Marquette – The inaugural Ringside Fitness Marquette Marathon and Half Marathon will be held Saturday, September 4 at the Presque Isle pavilion. The half marathon will begin at 7:15 a.m., with the full marathon at 7:30 a.m.

Marquette – The first annual Wild Rover Irish Pub Golf Outing, benefiting Promising Future Partnerships, will be held on Sunday, September 12 beginning with a shotgun start at noon at Greywalls Golf Course in Marquette.

Registration fee is $100 per golfer, $400 per team and includes greens fees, shared cart, food stations along the course, and heavy appetizers after golf.

Negaunee – The Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council will sponsor a pie social on Sunday, August 29 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Carp River Gardens, 73 Heritage Drive, Negaunee.

The social will include tours, homemade pie and coffee or tea, live music, a silent auction and a door prize drawing. Tickets cost $5, with pie and a beverage served for $3. In the event of rain, the social will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 30.

Tickets are on sale at the Vista Theater Thrift Shop, 218 Iron St., and the Midtown Bakery, 317 Iron St., both in downtown Negaunee. Proceeds from PAAC Social Events are used to help support the preservation and operation of the Vista Theater.

K.I. Sawyer – The South County Fund Committee will sponsor an all ages Dance Daze fundraiser on Sunday, August 29 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Tailwinds Grill and Bar in K.I. Sawyer.

Live music will be provided by the Delta Drifters, and lunch will be available for purchase. Admission is $7, with proceeds to benefit the West Branch Township Playground.

Marquette – ABC and the YMCA “Stuff the Bus” Campaign will be held Saturday, August 28 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Marquette.

Many families cannot afford to buy the school supplies necessary for their children. ABC 10 wants to help. Join the staff of ABC 10 in making a donation to the YMCA of Marquette County “Stuff the Bus” campaign. Drop off new school supplies or you can make a cash donation.

Supplies needed are: backpacks, black and blue pens, No. 2 pencils, pencil boxes, pencil sharpeners – w/covers, notebooks, jumbo book covers, white glue sticks, crayons (24 count), scissors (all ages), erasers, rulers, folders – 2 pocket, colored markers – thin/wide, highlighters, composition books, protractors/compasses, water colors sketch pads, 3×5 index cards, personal hygiene items, etc. School nurses also request clothing items for younger children such as socks, underwear, sweat pants and sweat shirts.

Marquette – The Marquette West Rotary Seafood Fest will be held Thursday, August 26 through Saturday, August 28 at the Ellwood Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette.

The festival will run from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday. There will be live music throughout the festival. A classic car show is set for Saturday.

In addition, the Rotary Club has partnered with the city of Marquette’s Arts and Culture Division to put on a youth program from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday that includes a performance by local singer Adam Whittington.

Marquette – The Walk, to benefit the Children’s Leukemia Foundation, will be held on Saturday, August 21 in Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

There will be 3, 4 or 8 mile walks from the Lower Harbor toward Presque Isle. Lunch will be provided by Buffalo Wild Wings. Each walker who raises $100 or more till be eligible to receive an official Walk t-shirt and prizes.

Marquette – Child and Family Services of the Upper Peninsula will host a Family to Family resale on Saturday, August 21 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the CFS office at Chippewa Square in Marquette.

Admission to the sale is a suggested $2 donation. Tables are available at a cost of $15 each. Proceeds from the admission and table rental fees will go toward supplies, supervision and other costs associated with CFS Before and After School programs at Marquette elementary schools. The sale will include gently used clothing, toys, books, sports equipment and more.

Marquette – Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 234 West Ridge, Marquette, will host a “Glendi” (Greek for “celebration”) on Sunday, August 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. in honor of the church’s namesday.

In addition, the ladies of the church will have a Bake Sale from 1-3 pm offering an assortment of Greek pastries for your delight. All proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the church.

Donuts are $8 a dozen and all proceeds go to the Westwood High School Football Team.

Marquette – The “Collars for a Cause” Pet Adoption Fair will be held on Wednesday, August 11 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Fox Marquette, sponsored by Fox Marquette. Charter Media and the Marquette County Humane Society.

“Collars for a Cause” is an off-site pet adoption fair that helps animals in need of a good home and a loving family find one, and also helps raise money for the Marquette County Humane Society.

Fox Marquette will be paying for 100% of all the basic adoption fees on all animals adopted. There will be pets available at Fox and also at the Humane Society. You must come to Fox to receive your voucher.

These are great cards that you can use over and over again as there is no limit. You get great discounts from places like Wendy’s, KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Togo’s, Hudson’s, Domino’s, etc.

Cost is $10.
