Marquette, MI – The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) Program is offering a Beyond BOW mother and daughter weekend workshop at the Little Presque Isle Cabins, located north of Marquette.

This July 13-15 weekend workshop is limited to eight participants. Opportunities include, kayaking, hiking, fire building, and wilderness first aid, for mothers and their daughters, ages 10 and up.

The cabins are located north of Marquette along Marquette County Road 510.

The $95 registration fee includes lunch and dinner on Saturday, two nights lodging in a rustic cabin at Little Presque Isle, a T-shirt and access to kayaks for the kayaking session. Participants will need to bring appropriate clothing for hiking and kayaking, as well as camping gear.

Participants will meet at the Little Presque Isle Cabins on Friday afternoon/evening. Instructors will be on-site from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. to assist with check-in.

Cabins are equipped to accommodate four participants in each, with two bunk beds with mattresses, a dining table with benches, wood stove for heating (supply your own wood), outside hand pump, vault toilet, outside grill, campfire ring and picnic table. There is no electricity.
