Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center (UGL) welcomes Renee O’Neill, Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), to their team of OB/GYN providers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 2018

Renee O’Neill

HANCOCK, MI.– Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center (UGL) welcomes Renee O’Neill, Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), to their team of OB/GYN providers at UGL’s Hancock Family Health Center – Obstetrics & Gynecology.

O’Neill has relocated to the Upper Peninsula from Missouri, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Webster University. She then earned her Master of Science in Nursing Degree (Midwifery Program) from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky. O’Neill’s lifelong dream has been to serve women and families in the role of Nurse Midwife, but the path she chose required being a nurse first. Thus, after 20 plus years of nursing in many capacities, she feels privileged to be stepping into the role of Nurse Midwife here among the families in the U.P.

A certified nurse midwife is a primary health care provider to women of all ages throughout their lives. CNMs focus on gynecologic and family planning services, as well as preconception, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and newborn care. O’Neill says, “The best part of being a midwife is being able to share in the journey. I enjoy seeing women become empowered through the process of birth and learning to make choices for their health which breaks them into the role of being a mom and caring for their newborn. Dads are included in this journey, too.”

O’Neill also has a passion for teaching gentle birth techniques and paying special attention to the transition to new motherhood, whether this is a woman’s first child or one of many. “I feel very grateful and privileged to be one of UGL’s providers serving the beautiful women and families in this community,” says O’Neill.

O’Neill has been enjoying the winter weather with her family. They have been participating in many activities such as sledding, cross-country skiing, skating, and playing hockey. The O’Neill family looks forward to learning more winter sports and they can’t wait to see what the summer brings!

Hancock Family Health Center – OB/GYN is located inside UP Health System – Portage, 500 Campus Drive, Hancock, Michigan. To schedule a visit with Renee O’Neill, CNM, or one of UGL’s other OB/GYN providers in Hancock, call (906) 483-1050.
