Marquette – A presentation of the 2017 Michigan Notable Book, “Michigan Modern: Design that Shaped America” will be held on Monday, June 26 at 7 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Although Michigan has always been known for its contributions to 20th century manufacturing, it has only recently been recognized for its contributions to mid-century modern design. “Michigan Modern: Design that Shaped America” by Amy Arnold and Brian Conway, selected in 2017 by the Michigan Department of Education and the Library of Michigan as one of twenty books celebrating Michigan, contains nearly thirty essays and interviews that show Michigan’s contribution to modern design in architecture, automobiles, furniture, and education.
Presenter Amy Arnold is the Michigan State Historic Preservation Office’s preservation planner. She has been the project manager for Michigan Modern since its inception in 2008. Snowbound Books will be at this event for book sales and signing. There is no admission charge. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
