Marquette, MI – May 1, 2017 – The Marquette Downtown Development Authority has extended the deadline for submissions for the 2017 Blueberry Festival Poster Contest to Tuesday, May 9. The DDA offices will be closed from May 1-5, so we will be unable to accept entries during this week.
The Marquette DDA invites residents of all ages and skill levels to submit original artwork for the 2017 Blueberry Festival Poster contest. The selected design will be reproduced as a full-color, limited edition poster. Original artwork in any medium is welcome but should not be larger than 11″ x 17″ and must not have been previously reproduced. New this year, no lettering or text will be allowed on the artwork, except for the artist’s signature, which should be no more than 1″ x 3″ in size.
The winning entry will be determined by a combined score based on an online vote open to the public and a panel of judges comprised of local artists, downtown business owners and public officials. Voting will take place Tuesday, May 9, through Friday, May 26, at www.downtownmarquette.org. All entries will be on display at the Marquette Arts & Culture Center, 217 North Front Street, throughout that time period for those who would like to view and vote for the artwork in person. In exchange for the rights to the selected artwork, the winner will receive $150 in gift certificates from downtown businesses and 10 posters. The winning poster will debut prior to the festival, which is scheduled for Friday, July 28.
The entry deadline is Tuesday, May 9. There are two ways to enter:
