MARQUETTE, MI – Join Jesse W. Wright, PhD, in a discussion about the widening wealth gap that is affecting American society on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00 pm at the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras room. Dr. Wright has led past library series on financial crisis and the evolving global financial order.
In recent decades, income and wealth inequality in the United States and elsewhere have risen to the highest levels in a century. The American middle class has come under stress and some fear that the American dream is fading. This discussion will explore the nature of the problem, public policy implications and proposed solutions.
After earning a doctorate in economics, presenter Wright specialized in international banking, teaching at the university level, serving the State Department as an economic consultant in Thailand, working on the Pacific Stock and Chicago Mercantile Exchanges, and most recently serving as an international banking consultant to several Latin American countries. He is currently an adjunct professor at NMU.
