SUNNY 101.9 JOINS UP WITH MCDONALD’S TO HELP OUT A GREAT CAUSE

February 14, 2011

Your intrepid morning team hit the bricks and took the show on the road this morning and headed out to the McDonald’s restaurant at the Country Village in Ishpeming today the help out with a special community-wide fund raising effort. The folks on staff at the McDonald’s decided to show their love and help out the family of 9-year-old Taylor Carlson of Ishpeming, who has been diagnosed with cancer. The crew at McDonald’s decided to take all of the money generated from the sale of Big Mac sandwiches through all day today and give the money to the family.

Mark and Walt spoke with Taylor’s mom, Becky, this morning and found out just how much the effort means to her and to Taylor. The family is facing a recurring expense of over $2200 for each trip to and from treatment as well as the charges related to the traveling and more. The trip is several times in a year, and those expenses will mount up. The community has stepped up and helped out the family and Becky remains astounded and heartwarmed with the response. Even our own Major Discount, Todd Noordyk, was moved by the moment to buy a dozen Big Macs for the office! Way to go, Boss!

This endeavor at the Ishpeming McDonald’s is bringing longtime fans of the Big Mac together with those who’ve never tried one before together to help out Taylor and her family. There is also a donation can at the counter for those of you who want to help out but not have a Big Mac. This fund raiser is going on until close today (Feb 14-th, Valentine’s Day) so you still have time to head on over and help a great cause!
