Marquette, MI – October 25, 2018 – Northern Michigan University will host a grand opening for its new Studio 102, a new space for high-end online media production. The event will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, in room 102 of the Learning Resources Center. President Fritz Erickson will speak briefly at 12:15. The studio offers a quiet place for faculty to record content for online courses and explore Virtual Reality tools. It features a lightboard–a glass board with internal lighting. An instructor can write or draw with luminous, liquid chalk while looking forward through the glass, allowing “eye contact” with the audience. Software flips the text so that it reads correctly when students watch the online presentation. The studio also offers quality sound and lighting.
